Precise were proud to have won the tender to install a comprehensive structured cabling solution at the site of this iconic Nuclear Power station.
With experience of previously working at other nuclear facilities and power stations, Precise were perfectly positioned to be a responsible and responsive contractor for the data installation required at this high profile site.
The project required Precise to supply, install, test and document a Brandrex solution of Cat 6 structured cabling, single mode Brandrex fibre as well as voice multipair and associated cabinets.
Working alongside the main contractor, each Precise engineer had to pass extremely stringent security checks in order to gain access to this prestigious job.
The Sellafield site measures 6 sq kilometres, making it the largest nuclear site in Europe and it boasts the most diverse portfolio of any nuclear site in the world.
As old as the UK’s nuclear industry itself, Sellafield has been operational since the 1940’s today the site is home to a wide range of operations including the decommissioning of redundant buildings associated with site’s early defence work; spent fuel management including Magnox and Oxide fuel reprocessing; and the safe management and storage of nuclear waste.
Precise provided excellent support and a reliable and efficient IT installation carried out within a very sensitive site, and to an ever-evolving specification. 2 major projects completed on time and budget to date on this site, with a 3rd to follow shortly.
